The WLA Prize's supreme decision-making body is the Management Committee ("Management Committee"). It is set up with divisions of the WLA Prize Secretariat, the WLA Prize Awards Committee ("Awards Committee"), and the WLA Prize Selection Committees ("Selection Committee").

The Management Committee

Major duties of the Management Committee include:

(I) Review the rules and criteria related to the selection of preliminary and final nominees;

(II) Determine the composition of the Awards Committee and the chairpersons of the Selection Committees;

(III) Consider and approve the selection of final nominees;

(IV) Research and determine other important issues occurring during the preliminary and final selection process.

The Management Committee consists of 5 members and is jointly chaired by the chairperson of the WLA and the chairperson of the Foundation. Other Members of the Management Committee are nominated by the chairperson and appointed after mutual negotiation and confirmation by both chairpersons of the WLA and the Foundation. The Management Committee Member serves for a term of 3 years and may serve for another term of office upon expiration.

Except for the chairperson of the WLA who can concurrently serve as a Member of the Awards Committee, other Members of the Management Committee shall not concurrently serve as the Members of the Awards Committee or the Selection Committees.

The Awards Committee

The Awards Committee of the WLA Prize is established to serve as the body in determining the final prize nominees. The committee consists of 5 members, including 1 chairperson. The Awards Committee Member serves for a term of 3 years and may serve for another term of office. The main responsibilities of the Awards Committee are as follows:

(I) Formulate the rules and criteria related to the selection of final nominees;

(II) Approve the composition of the Selection Committees (chosen by the chairpersons) for each single prize;

(III) Organize the selection of final nominees and certify the final selection results.

The Selection Committee

The Selection Committee is established for each single prize to serve as the initial selection body of the prize nominees. The Selection Committee consists of 5 members (if deemed necessary by the chairperson, an additional member may be added to constitute a committee of six individuals), including 1 chairperson. The Selection Committee Member serves for a term of 3 years and may serve for another term of office; however, 2 to 3 of such members shall be re-elected every three years. The main responsibilities of the Selection Committee are as follows:

(I) Formulate the rules and criteria related to the selection of preliminary nominees;

(II) Organize and conduct the selection of preliminary nominees and determine a list.

The list of the Selection Committee Members is strictly confidential and non-public, and the Awards Committee Members shall not concurrently serve as the Selection Committee Members.
