Story in photos: The 5th WLA Forum and the WLA Prize moments

Date Dec. 2, 2022

The 5th WLA Forum, a scientific event that features exchanges and communications over diverse scientific topics among top scientists worldwide, was successfully held in Shanghai from Nov. 3 to 7. Apart from its flagship academic dialogues and events, this year's Forum was also highlighted by the Award Ceremony of the Inaugural WLA Prize and Prize-related activities.

The two inaugural WLA Prize laureates, Michael I. Jordan and Dirk Görlich received the awards officially at the award ceremony held during the Forum's opening ceremony on Nov. 6 and delivered keynote speeches sharing their academic insights at the event. From Nov. 6 to 7, they also made academic lectures demonstrating their researches that won the award and visions for the future, joined with other world's leading scientists at roundtable talks focusing on their respective fields.

The WLA Forum, initiated by World Laureates Association (WLA) in 2018, is a phenomenal scientific event that attracts the greatest number of prize winners in the world. Held on to the annual theme of "Science Forward: Create a Bright Future," this year's conference provided a valuable platform for in-depth exchange in the fields like future health, mathematical & digital intelligence, carbon strategy, green power, education, and international cooperation.

About 60 laureates of the Nobel Prize, Wolf Prize, Lasker Award, Turing Award, Kyoto Prize, Scientific Breakthrough Prize, Canada Gairdner Prize, World Food Prize, Fields Medal, MacArthur Fellowship, Eni Award, and other top scientific awards, dozens of Chinese academicians, outstanding young scientists, and representatives of "junior scientists" attended the event.
